Filament CORE
This is the foundation of our software system. The Filament CORE operates like a conductor, with our various other modules acting as the players in an orchestra. This allows Filament to deliver seamless content and gives publishers total control over their content.
The Filament CORE is very fast and is can handle very high traffic sites. It is a scalable environment, so you just need to add additional front-end servers to provide fast access to your site for your visitors. The use of intelligent caching, a state of the art session manager and support for services such as Akamai allow virtually unlimited number of visitors.
Because of the scalability you can start with small and grow your server environment as appropriate. This provides built insurance that your investment isn't going to be obsolete because of your growth.
Filament CORE has been under continuous development since 1994. The current version is v5.0.
Content Manager
The Content Manager is at the heart of Filament installations. This allows you to manage your content using web based WYSIWYG editors, as well as in HTML and Textile. Because Filament also support XML-RPC it is possible to use native editors such as Ecto (for Macintosh and Windows).
The Content Manager allows you to have full control over your content, how it appears, when it appears, who can view it, what can be syndicated and much more. A rich permissions environment allows for full control for editors and authors of content and the management of revisions. Further, the built in staging abilities allow the content to be available on a staging server before it is approved for regular publication.
Render Engine
The Filament Render Engine allows Filament to publish content in a variety of formats. The currently supported formats are XHTML, Flash, PDF & XML. The sophisticated use of templates and style sheets allow for very fine control over the presentation of your content.
